Technical Theatre 1

Week of 6 January 2020

Instructor:  Mr. Neugebauer

Periods 1, 2, and 6

Monday:  The students will be reviewing safety today.

Tuesday thru Friday:  I will be introducing the costume portion of my curriculum.

Please Note:  Students are required to keep a daily reflection that is due each Wednesday.  This reflection is worth 20 points.  MUHS is introducing a new format for note taking this year.  We will be using Cornell Note format that the students are becoming familiar with.

Your student’s safety is the number 1 priority for me.  Technical Theatre has an abundance of safety issues including use of tools, electricity, rigging and material handling.  I am requiring the students to supply their own safety glasses this year.  Safety glasses are on sale in the bookstore for $5.00

Periods 1, 2, and 6

Monday thru Friday:  I changed the lessons last week due to the safety program that I ordered.

CareerSafe is a safety certification program that is industry standard.  This 10 hour program is similar to the basic OSHA 10 program, but it keys on the construction industry.  It is the closest that I have seen that is very useful for my program.  The students will continue the program this week.

Tuesday thru Friday:  These students will continue CareerSafe.  They started it last week.  This is a 10 hour safety certification course that will follow the students for several years.  I will also be continuing the costume portion of my curriculum that I introduced last week.

Monday thru Friday:  We will be striking Broadway that closed this week-end.  I do not km=now how long it will take.  We will also be continuing CareerSafe and Shrek the Musical if time permits.

I would like to start building Shrek this week.  We shall see.

Monday thru Friday:  We did start to change the existing set to meet Shrek’s need last week.  We took the tracks out that will be used and started to restore the platform.  This will continue this week.  We will be installing the tracks to the new configuration this week.

We will continue with CareerSafe.  We will continue with Shrek the Musical.

Week of February 10

Monday thru Friday:  We had a very productive week last week, completing what I had planned.  This week we will be setting the tracks that will be carrying two wagons that will have a variety of scenery changes.  We will be starting the stage right platform for the home of Shrek.

Thursday and Friday are parent/teacher conferences starting at 15:10 each day.  This is for all advisory students.

 

If time permits we will continue with CareerSafe.

Week of February 18

Technical Theatre 1

Week of 18 February 2020

Instructor:  Mr. Neugebauer

Periods 1, 2, and 6

Monday thru Friday:  We had a very productive week last week, completing what I had planned.  This week we will be starting the SL platform for the home of Shrek.  We will be filling the holes in the stage this week in preparation of the primer coat for show floor.  I would like to start the SR tower for Fiona.  We will start the walls for Farquer.

 

If time permits we will continue with CareerSafe.

Week of February 24

Technical Theatre 1

Week of 24 February 2020

Instructor:  Mr. Neugebauer

Periods 1, 2, and 6

Last week we prepped the floor and primed the floor.  The students were great and we accomplished what was set forth.  We also prepped and loaded in Patchwork into the cafeteria.  Patchwork is a dinner theatre that is really cool!

Monday:  The Utah Shakespeare Festival has the stage all day today.  All students are SA’d to see the show.  Freshman and Sophomores will attend the show 2nd and 3rd hour, Juniors and Seniors will attend the show 4th and 5th hour.  Romeo and Juliet is to be presented.

 

Tuesday and Wednesday:  We will be continuing the build of Shrek the Musical.

 

Thursday and Friday:  I will not be in these two days.  The students will continue CareerSafe.

Welcome back from Spring break!

 

Monday thru Friday:  The students will be continuing the build of Shrek.  We had a very successful two days during break completing several projects.  The students will be introduced to carving fake rocks, painting techniques, and a variety of scenic artist techniques.  There will be a variety of painting this week.  We will continue the props build for the show.

 

I am very satisfied at the students performance during this pre-production build!
